Southern Wine & Spirits of America has announced additions to its executive team.

The US distributor yesterday (23 May) unveiled two appointments designed to strengthen its senior operations and IT teams.

Bobby Burg will fill the new corporate position of senior vice president, operations and supply chain strategy, while Barry Goldberg has become senior vice president, chief information officer & managing director, business solutions group. Both appointments take effect from 1 June.

Prior to his promotion, Burg served as senior vice president, chief information officer for Southern. Goldberg, meanwhile, has been vice president, operations in Southern's Illinois unit for the past four years.

"With these two senior management appointments, Southern Wine & Spirits of America continues its unrelenting drive to offer leading-edge operational, supply chain strategy and information technology excellence in service of our customers and our supplier partners," said Lee Hager, Southern's vice president, secretary and chief administrative officer.

Both Burg and Goldberg will report to Hager.

Southern is the largest wine and spirits distributor in the US, with operations soon to be in 27 states.
