Solera Beverage Group has acquired a majority stake in the PrimeWine Group in Scandinavia.

Solera, which is the largest wine and spirits supplier to Norway's alcohol retail monopoly, Vinmonopolet, said late last week that it has secured the controlling position in Sweden-based drinks importer PrimeWine. Financial details behind the purchase were not disclosed.

"We have set the bar high in regards to Solera's overall goals," said Finn Husjord, group CEO in Solera. "In order to achieve our mandate, it has been essential for us to strengthen our position in Sweden. Our new partners in PrimeWine bring to the table broad competence as well as an extensive international network of business relations.

"We are looking forward to continuing our success with our new colleagues in PrimeWine."

Henrik Bjørck, CEO of PrimeWine, added: "Together with Solera, we are on track to creating the leading import group in both Sweden and Norway."

Solera has 60 employees in Norway, Sweden and Finland, while PrimeWine has 40 employees in Sweden and Norway.

PrimeWine is made up of four subsidiaries: PrimeWine Sweden, MondoWine, BGS Vinhandel and PrimeWine Norway.
