One of Scottish & Newcastle's non-executive directors has retired. Dr Iain Anderson is to retire from the position with effect from 31 August, the brewer said yesterday (16 August).

In a statement, Sir Brian Stewart, S&N's chairman, said: "Scottish & Newcastle has gained enormously from Iain's wide experience and his deep understanding of the challenges facing an international consumer business as we have developed as an international brewer.

"We thank him for his major contribution to the group at a critical time in its development and wish him well for the future."
