Small Town Brewery is to roll out its herb-and-spice beer Not Your Father’s Root Beer nation-wide in the US after signing a new distribution deal.

The Illinois company said yesterday it had agreed an exclusive deal with Pabst Brewing Co, and expects the brand to be available across the US by the end of this year. Pabst currently distributes Not Your Father’s Root Beer to 30 states.

Small Town founder Tim Kovac said: "The last year has been an amazing ride. We’ve had Not Your Father’s Root Beer go from being available in a few dozen Chicago bars and restaurants to becoming one of the most sought-after craft beers in the country."

The 5.9% abv Not Your Father’s Root Beer comes in a 12-ounce bottle and is spiced with wintergreen, sassafras bark, oak, vanilla, anise and other spices. Small Town Brewery was founded in 2010.

This month, Pabst Brewing Co was reportedly targeted in a lawsuit by rap star Snoop Dogg, who claimed the company owed him US$70m from its recent sale.
