//i4.progressivedigitalmedia.com/1/green_tea__elder_cheat_750.jpgNorthern Ireland-based SHS Group, which owns the WKD and Merrydown drinks brands, purchased a majority - albeit unspecified - shareholding in Bottlegreen from private equity firm Piper, Bottlegreen announced yesterday (19 May).
Some members of the Piper management team will retain shareholdings in the group. However, a spokesperson for Piper declined to disclose the percentage held. Financial details of the deal were also not disclosed.
SHS said the addition of the Gloucestershire-based firm to its business is part of the company's growth strategy and will provide it with access to the cordials and squash category.
"Bottlegreen Drinks is home to a range of exceptional brands that perform strongly in the retail multiples, convenience and food service channels and continue to reach into exciting new territories," said SHS Group's managing director, Michael Howard. "This is an important acquisition for the SHS Group and a strong addition to our existing beverages brand portfolio."
