Shiraz has become the top Australian wine grape on world markets. An analysis of export figures by the Australian Wine and Brandy Corporation reveals that Shiraz and Shiraz dominated blends accounted for 57% of the total 216m litres of bottled red wine - the largest single segment - shipped in the year to the end of October.

Cabernet Sauvignon varietal and blended wines accounted for 25% and Merlot another 10%.
