Shaanxi Haisheng Fresh Fruit Co has said it is looking to buy fruit orchards in the US and Canada as part of an international expansion plan, according to a report.

The China-based apple juice concentrate producer was quoted in China Daily today (20 December) as saying that the company is looking for "possible opportunities to use mergers and acquisitions to own fruit plantations in North America". The purchasing plan is part of the firm's "strategic business transformation", China Daily reported.

In 2010, Haisheng's annual exports accounted for 25% of China's total exports and 25% of world trade in apple-juice concentrate, the publication noted. The company currently supplies concentrate to China Huiyuan Juice Group, Pepsico and The Coca-Cola Co.
