Coca-Cola European Partners has used feedback from its self-serve soda dispensers to launch a new zero-sugar Fanta flavour in the UK.

Fanta Grape Zero will roll out to the UK market in March via CCEP

Fanta Grape Zero, which is already on sale in the US, will roll out to the UK market in March, CCEP said. The flavour was chosen based on a combination of demand on social media and the fact that it is the second most popular Fanta flavour, after Orange, on UK Coca-Cola Freestyle soda fountains, according to the company.

"We listened to what this consumer group wants and following huge demand on social media, as well as the data shown by our Freestyle machines, we're now introducing one of Fanta's biggest new flavour innovations of the past few years," said CCEP's UK commercial development VP, Simon Harrison.

Fanta Grape Zero, which is soft drink tax-exempt, will be available in a 33cl can and a 50cl PET bottle, and 4x33cl can multipack and two-litre PET bottle.

According to GlobalData, market share growth for Fanta helped Coca-Cola brands account for more of UK CSD volumes in 2017. The Coca-Cola Co, for which CCEP is the UK bottler, saw its share of carbonates volumes increase by 3% to 52%. PepsiCo brands had a 23% share.

The new Fanta is just one of a number of UK launches for CCEP. Other roll-outs include:

  • Honest Tea Lemonade and Pink Lemonade
  • Capri-Sun Cherry
  • Appletiser Blood Orange, Exotic Lime & Passionfruit

Last week, Monster Beverage Corp said it would launch two new UK SKUs through CCEP. Monster Espresso & Milk and Monster Espresso Vanilla will be available in 25cl slimline cans.
