Joseph E. Seagram and Sons, Inc., a U.S. subsidiary of The Seagram Company Ltd. (NYSE:VO), today announced two additional Corporate Finance appointments, both effective September 1, 2000.

Maureen Hannan has been appointed Vice President of Strategic Planning and Mergers & Acquisitions, reporting to John Preston, Senior Vice President of Treasury and Strategic Planning. John Luczycki has been appointed Vice President and Controller, reporting to Frank Mergenthaler, Senior Vice President of Finance and Chief Accounting Officer.

Maureen Hannan has served as Assistant Controller since 1998. Previously, Ms. Hannan held a number of financial management positions, including Assistant Treasurer, Senior Director of Corporate Planning and Business Development and Senior Director of Investor Relations.

In announcing her new appointment, Seagram's Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Brian Mulligan said: "Throughout her 17-year career with Seagram, Maureen has brought exceptional skill and experience to the company. Her breadth of knowledge and expertise has proven an invaluable asset."

John Luczycki joined Seagram in March 1999 when he was appointed Assistant Controller, with responsibility for all external financial reporting. Previously, Mr. Luczycki spent 12 years at PricewaterhouseCoopers.

In announcing his new appointment, Mr. Mulligan said: "John brings to his new role a superb combination of experience, leadership and professionalism. His outstanding qualities will continue to benefit the company in fundamental ways."
