Scottish & Newcastle has declined to comment on speculation suggesting it will sell its Kronenbourg lager brand.

The UK-based company was responding to reports this weekend that claimed it has held talks to divest the French business for around GBP1bn (US$2.06bn).

The Mail on Sunday said this weekend that S&N has been in discussions with both SABMiller and private equity firm Permira.

Speaking to just-drinks today (26 November), however, a spokesperson for S&N refused to be drawn on the report. "We will not be commenting on market speculation," the spokesperson said. No-one was available for comment at SABMiller when contacted by just-drinks.
