US beer brand, Grain Belt Premium, produced by Minnesota Brewing Co. which closed down last week, may be acquired by regional brewer August Schell Brewing Co. of New Ulm.

Minnesota Brewing Co., whose other products include Golden Pilsner, Pig's Eye Pilsner, Yellow Belly and Brewer's Cave beers, could be sold off or liquidated which would allow the Grain Belt label to be sold to another brewery.

Schell's President, Ted Marti, said the acquisition of Grain Belt would double his brewery's production.
