Sapporo Breweries is poised to buy Kikkoman Corp.'s spirits sales and production operations.

The Japanese brewer's Sapporo Holdings unit announced the acquisition today (25 November). Financial details were not disclosed.

Sapporo said that the purchase of Kikkoman's distilled spirit and other alcohol businesses will include facilities to produce alcoholic products including refined sake and liquor. Sapporo plans to complete the acquisition by 1 April next year.

The purchase is not expected to affect Sapporo's earnings outlook for this year, the brewer added.
