UK-based Salcombe Distilling Co has partnered with Spain's Bodegas Tradición to release a limited edition gin and Sherry double-pack in its home market.

The pack, which rolled out this week, is available to the UK's off-premise channel. It comprises Salcombe's cask-aged Finisterre gin with Bodegas Tradición's namesake 12-year-old fino Sherry.

The two products were aged - separately - in the same cask, made of American oak and able to hold 624 litres. Salcombe's gin spent three months in the cask.

"The brand partnership is inspired by the famous 19th Century trading routes of the Salcombe Fruit Schooners, which in addition to citrus fruit and spices, are known through documented evidence to have carried sherry from Cadiz to England," Salcombe Distilling said.

The UK company's co-founder, Howard Davies, added: "We've always been curious about cask-aged gin. (Finisterre) is ... delicious served ... in a Martini married with the delectable Fino in place of the more traditional vermouth."

The 46% abv Finisterre, which comes in a 70cl bottle, along with the 12-year-old, 15% abv Fino - in a 75cl bottle - is limited to 825 units, carrying a retail price of GBP95 (US$127).
