SABMiller is eyeing further growth in China through acquisitions, a senior executive has said.

The managing director of the brewer's African and Asian businesses, Andre Parker, said that, although in the near-term the company would focus on organic growth, it would not rule out new acquisitions.

"There are one or two Chinese groups that might be for sale. We would certainly be interested, alongside, no doubt, all our other international competitors," Parker told reporters. He did not expand on what these targets were.

He added, however, that the company would not be prepared to overpay. "We don't really think there's any value in just buying a good brewery at an expensive price and just continue to run it as it had in the past," Parker said. "How do you add additional wealth for your investors?"
