ABI, the South African soft drinks division of SABMiller, has appointed a new managing director.

Ken Hitchcock was today (8 May) named to head ABI, replacing Mark Bowman, who earlier this year became managing director at SABMiller's Polish brewing arm Kompania Piwowarska.

Hitchcock, who has been with SABMiller's domestic brewing arm SAB Ltd since 1990, is currently the general manager of the company's North Region. His appointment is effective from 1 June.
