Vietnamese government-controlled brewery Saigon Beer Alcohol and Beverages Corp (Sabeco) has registered to list on the Ho Chi Minh stock exchange.

According to the stock exchange's website, the company registered its documents late last week. The move follows reports in September that the Government had received interest from several international companies to buy the Vietnamese brewer.

Bloomberg said earlier this year that the state owns 89.59% of Sabeco. Heineken also owns a small stake in company.

Sabeco launched an IPO in 2008, however the firm fell short of its target. Sabeco said at the time that it planned to list its shares in Ho Chi Minh later that year.

Last week, Carlsberg confirmed it is in talks with the Vietnamese government over its stake in Hanoi Beer Alcohol & Beverage Corp (Habeco). In recent weeks, media reports from Vietnam have said that the country's authorities are nearing a sale of the state-controlled brewer.
