Robert Oatley Vineyards is lining up its initial assault on the UK and Europe, with the appointment of a general manager for the region and an agent in the UK.

The Australian family-owned winery said earlier today (23 February) that it has recruited Barney Davis from South African firm The Company of Wine People to head up its operations in the UK and Europe. At the same time, Ehrmanns has been confirmed as UK agent for the premium wine producer.

Having started trading six years ago, and setting up distribution in the US and Canada, the Oatley family said it feels it is “now well-positioned to introduce (our) wines to the European market.”

Davis spent the last four years as brand & business development manager role at The Company of Wine People. He has also worked as wine buyer for The Co-operative Group and Somerfield Stores in the UK. He will assume his new role from 19 March, focussing initially on Scandinavia and the Netherlands.

The company will formally introduce its Robert Oatley portfolio, produced from grapes grown in the Margaret River, McLaren Vale, Mornington Peninsula and Mudgee wine regions, to the market in May, with Ehrmanns, at the London International Wine Fair.
