Reusable bottles made up 75.9% of total mineral water sale in Germany in the first half of the year, following the introduction in January of the country's new recycling laws.

The figure compares to 71.5% in the first half of 2002, according to the German Association of Mineral Water Bottlers (VDM).

VDM also said that overall mineral water sales in Germany rose by 17% year-on-year in the first eight months of 2003. The majority of sales were made during the hot summer.
