Remy Cointreau USA has signed a sponsorship deal with boxing middleweight champion and entrepreneur Oscar de la Hoya.

The US importer of Remy Martin Fine Champagne Cognac will collaborate with de la Hoya through Golden Boy Promotions. The venture will place Remy Martin as the sponsor of upcoming Golden Boy Promotions fights, including the sponsorship of Oscar de la Hoya's return to the ring in 2006.

"Oscar is an extraordinary athlete, businessman and humanitarian," said Steve Hissam, category director for Remy Martin. "Remy Martin celebrates those who have embraced the future for themselves and their community. Oscar is the ultimate embodiment of faith, pride and commitment in the future. We look forward to a winning relationship."

The relationship will also include support to Latino youth through the Oscar de la Hoya Foundation.

"Remy Martin represents excellence and I'm thrilled to be a part of the Remy Martin team," Oscar said. "They have stepped it up to succeed as pioneers in their industry. I was proud they've recognised me as a role model for Latinos, boxers, philanthropists and entrepreneurs. I'm looking forward to working with the brand and building faith in the future."
