The UK pub operator Regent Inns has warned that trading has become tougher since September and its full-year profits will be marginally below analysts' current expectations as a result. The announcement is the latest bad news in a string of announcements by UK pub operators along similar lines, suggesting that consumer spending in the country is slowing.
