Anti-monopoly authorities have passed Refresco's purchase of three French juice manufacturing facilities from Britvic.

France's Autorité de la Concurrence said today that although Refresco's purchase will give it significant market share, competition from France's Laiterie Saint-Denis de l'Hotel operators in Germany and Spain will ensure a balanced market. Refresco will "continue to face competition from operators able to offer an alternative offer", the authority concluded.

The deal will expand Refresco's contract manufacturing footprint in France. Included is a long-term contract manufacturing agreement with Britvic for manufacturing the UK firm's Pressade and Fruit Shoot brands.

The purchase, which was first announced in November, comes after Refresco signed a deal in Spain to buy two PepsiCo factories. Last year, Refresco agreed to buy a UK production facility from Coca-Cola European Partners.
