Refresco has increased its investment in a French production facility

Refresco will invest a further EUR6m (US$7m) at its plant in France's Massif Central region, as it looks to modernise the canned drinks production line.

The move follows a EUR12m spend less than a year ago, which saw upgrade work on two PET lines. Until now, the Saint-Alban-les-Eaux plant's canning capability has been limited to the standard 33cl packaging format. The latest development will extend to 'slim' cans in 33cl, 25cl and 15cl formats. The plant, which employs 250 staff, is also equipped with four PET bottling lines.

Refresco France's main customer is PepsiCo. The company recently began production and bottling activities on behalf of French mineral water brand Badoit, for its sparkling, fruit-flavoured drink Bulles de Fruits.

Earlier this year, Refresco France announced the investment of EUR97m in a new production plant in northern France, which will replace an existing facility. Equipped with five carton and two PET lines, with scope to extend the latter to five, it is scheduled to enter service in December 2019.
