Rebecca Creek Distillery has extended its sports partnership programme in the US to basketball, through a tie-up with the San Antonio Spurs.

The Texas-based craft distiller said late yesterday that it will partner with the NBA team for the 2017-18 season. Through the activity, Rebecca Creek will run a 'hometown highlights' digital campaign across the Spurs' social media platforms, app and website.

Yesterday's announcement follows the opening of a brand-themed on-premise outlet in the stadium of the Texas Rangers baseball team.

Financial details behind this week's tie-up were not disclosed.

Matt Appleby, VP of national marketing for Rebecca Creek, said: "We are focused on raising awareness around the Rebecca Creek Distillery brands, both locally and on a national scale. The Spurs being from our hometown made them a natural fit, and they do a fantastic job connecting with their fans."

Last month, the company announced the appointment of former Pernod Ricard executive Howard Jeffery as its new COO.
