Purple Beverage Co. has appointed a former Red Bull North America national accounts manager to take on the same role within the antioxidant beverage company.

The US-based soft drinks company said today (1 May) that Lou Aceto will join Purple from Red Bull, where he was responsible for "placing the product on the shelves of convenience and grocery store chains and petrol stations" across New England and New York in the US.

While with Red Bull, Aceto serviced national accounts such as Stop & Shop, Wegmans, Tops Markets, Hannaford Brothers, Cumberland Farms and CVS stores, the company said.

Purple Beverage Co. founder and CEO Ted Farnsworth said: "With experience and relationships from individual markets to large retail chains, Lou will be an invaluable asset to our growing company. His knowledge and expertise expand beyond building strategic relationships, planning and exceeding sales targets to earning customer satisfaction through effective client management and driving successful negotiations."

Aceto added: "Purple is not only a great product, but I also see the company gaining a place in the industry as the next big national brand. I'm happy to join the Purple team at such an opportune time when it is focusing on taking Purple to the next level."

Prior to joining Red Bull, Aceto served as key accounts manager for The Quaker Oats Company, where he was responsible for "implementing vertical call strategies within the chain and distributor organisations". Aceto also previously served as an independent distributor for Tropicana Products, the company added.

Last month, Purple appointed another former Red Bull executive, Dan Morelli, as vice president of east coast sales and distribution in the US. During his time with Red Bull, Morelli was director of sales for the company's east business unit. Prior to this, he served as division manager of Diageo.
