Highland Spring has booked an increase in year-end profits

Highland Spring has reported an increase in year-end profits, boosted by improved weather conditions and "impactful" sales and marketing programmes.

For the year to the end of December 2009, operating profits soared by 89% to reach GBP4.3m (US$6.8m). Net sales increased by 7.5% to GBP54.8m, privately-held Highland Spring said today (30 September).

Les Montgomery, chief executive of Highland Spring, said: "The results are clear evidence that the strategy we have adopted of developing the Highland Spring brand is being rewarded.

"The market place is extremely competitive but we are now uniquely placed to continue to our offer our customers and consumers excellence in both quality and value for money," he added.

Looking ahead, Montgomery said that the firm is well-placed to achieve its medium-term vision of becoming a GBP100m annual sales and 550m-litre business.
