SodaStream International has launched a new range of low-calorie flavours for its home-carbonation platforms in the US.

SodaStream Naturals, described as a “healthier alternative” to RTD sodas, are sweetened with "real sugar" and contain 40 calories, SodaStream said this week. The range is made up of six flavours - Kiwi-Pear, Apple-Peach, Passionfruit-Mango, Green Tea Lychee, Fresh Lemon and Cranberry-Raspberry.

SodaStream CEO Daniel Birnbaum said the range is targeted at consumers who want to drink more water but don't like the taste. “These flavours answer the consumer demand for great taste, as well as for simple, natural ingredients,” Birnbaum said.

Last month, Birnbaum announced a new SodaStream platform that will dispense both hot and cold beverages. The CEO said it will have any feature a customer could think of “other than a back massage”.
