PepsiCo is adding to its cane sugar portfolio in the US with the launch of Mtn Dew Black Label. The company said the Mountain Dew extension, flavoured with dark berry and herbal bitters, will roll out in the US next year after an initial launch on college campuses. It follows last year's release of Pepsi True, which is also sweetened with cane sugar.

Most of PepsiCo's CSDs in the US are sweetened with high-fructose corn syrup, which has been been blamed by some health activists as contributing to growing obesity levels in the country. PepsiCo has tackled those health concerns by launching a number of cane sugar - which it calls “real” sugar - drinks on the market, including Pepsi True and the “craft” soda Caleb's Kola.
