Kirin's Australian subsidiary Lion has launched comparatively higher-abv radler under its Hahn beer brand that is designed to "better suit the tastes of Australians".

The 3.2% Hahn Radler is 70% beer and 30% lemon compared to a half-and-half mix in a traditional-style radler. Lion said there are about 2.8m Australian adults who have had a beer in the past 12 months, but not in the past four weeks, "so we need to be constantly evolving and offering distinctive choices and flavours that appeal to a wider group of people".

Lion added: "We hope that Aussies who may not choose beer that often, will be intrigued by Hahn Radler."

Lion launched a radler in 2008 - Lion's Barefoot Radler - before the brewer was taken over by Japan's Kirin Holdings the following year.
