A new venture that combines the annual London wine tastings for Argentina, Chile and South Africa's trade bodies has attracted about 280 producers.

The figure beats the 250 target set for 'The Beautiful South' event with two months still to go, organisers said today (2 July). “The generic bodies believe that the strong support from all producer countries will guarantee that the visitor experience at the tasting will be comprehensive and varied,” the organisers said.

Six tasting zones have been announced, including 'Red Blends', 'Regional Cabernet Sauvignon' and 'Old Vines', while seminars on areas such as old vintages, cooler climate areas and mavericks in today's wine industry have also been revealed.

The event will be held on 11 and 12 September, in Olympia 2 in London.

Announcing the event last year, one organiser told just-drinks it hopes to attract senior buyers from Europe.
