SABMiller has lined up two new beers in Czech Republic through its Plzenský Prazdroj unit.

The company announced on Wednesday (11 April) that Master semi-dark and Master dark will be rolled out exclusively in the on-trade across the country. Plzenský Prazdroj is targeting 700 outlets in the country, with the beers available in 15-litre kegs.

Speaking to just-drinks today, a spokesperson for Plzenský Prazdroj confirmed the move, adding: "We would like to enhance out portfolio in the country, to offer more to our customers." When asked if there were plans to extend this to the off-trade, the spokesperson said: "That is definitely not planned for this year."

The semi-dark Master beer is 5.1% abv, with the dark coming in at 7% abv. The brewer will start production of 1,000 hectolitres for this year, with input expected to increase in 2008, depending on sales.

With total sales of over 10.7m hectolitres last year, and with exports to more than 50 countries, Plzenský Prazdroj is also the largest exporter of Czech beer. The major Plzenský Prazdroj brands in the country are Pilsner Urquell, Gambrinus, Radegast and Velkopopovicky Kozel.
