Employees at bankrupt US brewer Pittsburgh Brewing Co. have accepted a cut in salary in an attempt to allow the company to get out of its financial difficulties, according to local reports.
Workers voted in favour of a new three-year deal pay deal should prospective owner Pittsburgh Brewing Acquisition take over.
"It's definitely a big step," Ken Ream, of the International Union of Electrical Workers-Communications Workers of America, told the Associated Press yesterday (21 January).
"There's a lot of other bridges to cross. But if we did not have an agreement, my guess is, the brewery would not survive."
Pittsburgh Brewing Acquisition hopes to take over the brewer in March, the report said.
Last month, the brewer was told by the Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority to pay over US$147,000 in charges accrued since the filing.
The company is still operating under Chapter 11 protection.
