The Pittsburgh Brewing Company, makers of Iron City, IC Light, and Augustiner Lager, will hold its annual Oktoberfest at the brewery, 3340 Liberty Avenue, September 15th-17th. The three-day event will showcase great German food with continuous German entertainment, including the Alpen Glow Band, Baron's German Band, Heimat Klang Band, and the Alpen Schuplattlers Dancers.

Local Alternative bands will also be playing, with 102.5-WDVE hosting the event on Friday, September 15th. The Friday night band lineup takes place from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. and includes Chatter Box, Mercury, Imposter, and VooDoo Babies. "The X" 105.9 will host the event on Saturday, September 16th. The Saturday night band lineup takes place from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. and includes Pleasure Technicians, new invisible joy, and Buzz Poets.

This year there will be a few new editions to the event. On Saturday, September 16th from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. The Canon Brothers from ESPN radio will make an appearance. Another new edition this year will be on Sunday -- "The Ultimate Tailgate Party" for all Steelers fans. They will have large screen TVs available for the game. Also, Rob Pratte from KDKA Radio will broadcast his Pre-Game Show live at 11:30 a.m. The game begins at 1:00 p.m., which leaves plenty of time to enjoy the German festivities along with the game. Admission for the Oktoberfest is $4.00/person, $2.00 for all seniors, and children under 14 are free. Anyone who brings their ticket stub from the Pitt/Penn State game will be admitted free of charge on Saturday after the game. To create enthusiasm for the event, Pittsburgh Brewing Company has given out 20,000 complementary tickets to distributors, taverns, and sponsors.
