The Pinault family has acquired California's Araujo Estates Wines.

The family completed the transaction last week through its Artémis financial holding company. The value of the purchase, from the Araujo family, was not disclosed.

The estate, located near Calistoga in the north-east of the Napa Valley region, comprises the 38-acre Eisele vineyard, a winery and cellar complex. The estate, which was established around 120 years ago, was first planted to Cabernet Sauvignon grapes in 1964.

“Araujo and its jewel, Eisele, produce one of the best wines in the Napa Valley,” Artémis said in a statement.

Artémis already owns the grand cru Château Latour estate (in Bordeaux), the Domaine d'Eugénie (in Burgundy) and Château Grillet (in the Rhône Valley).

The Pinaults are the main shareholder in French luxury goods company Kering.
