Pernod Ricard has readied a revamp of the packaging for its Powers Gold Label Irish whiskey brand in the US.

The company's US arm said today (10 June) that Powers Gold Label will benefit from updated labelling for its 750ml and 1-litre offerings in the country. The front label will feature metallic gold colouring and gold borders, while the lower front label, previously in dark gold, will now be black.

"This is a great time to make a name for this classic Irish whiskey brand," said Wayne Hartunian, brand director for Irish whiskies at Pernod Ricard USA. "The Irish whiskey category here in the US is on fire. It is ... the fastest growing spirits category, growing at six times the rate of the next fastest category.

"By building awareness and interest through its distinctive new package, Powers Gold Label Irish Whiskey is ready to do its part to further accelerate the category momentum."

The new packaging will appear in both the US on- and off-trade from July.
