Pernod Ricard has launched an ultra-premium, limited edition brand extension for its Martell Cognac brand in the US.

The company's US arm confirmed today (20 April) that L'Or de Jean Martell, which launched in the country in February, will be limited to 120 bottles.

The Cognac, a double distillation of the clearest of eau-de-vie, is a combination of the four finest growths - Grand Champagne, Petite Champagne, Fins Bois and Borderies - and a lengthy maturation in fine-grain oak barrels, Pernod Ricard USA said.

L'Or de Jean Martell will come in a decanter made of 'Cristal de Sevres', which will be "embellished with gilded garlands".

"L'Or de Jean Martell is truly the ultimate expression of the House of Martell and a testament to (founder) Jean Martell," said Larry Neuringer, brand director of Martell at Pernod Ricard USA.

The limited edition run carries a suggested retail price of US$3,600 per bottle.
