Pernod Ricard has appointed a new CFO and created a strategy director post at its Australia-based Premium Wine Brands business.

Dave Kluz has become Premium Wine Brands' strategy director, after acting as a consultant to the division for around two years. Meanwhile, Ludovic Ledru has become the unit's CFO, moving from his post as finance and administration director at Premium Wine Brands' Spanish subsidiary, Domecq Bodegas.

The moves give the Pernod Ricard wine unit fresh impetus as it competes in a tough global market for wine generally. Kluz will be responsible for innovation and identifying global trends, while Ledru will be responsible for supply chain, sales and general company finance.

When contacted by just-drinks, a spokesperson for Pernod detailed that Ledru replaces Nicolas Krantz, who moved to become Pernod's director of finance and administration for Europe back in October.

The Jacob's Creek and Brancott Estate wine brand owner's CEO, Jean Christophe-Couture, said today (31 January): "Our global team has expanded significantly over the last few months, with several additions in marketing and innovation and adding two individuals to the management committee of the calibre of Ludovic and Dave only serves to strengthen our business. "We are well positioned to continue the momentum we gained in 2011 this year," he added.

In the first quarter of Pernod's fiscal year, to the end of September, Premium Wine Brands's four core brands saw sales rise by 3% in volume and 8% in value. In addition to Brancott Estate and Jacob's Creek, those brands are Campo Viejo and Graffigna. Premium Wine Brands accounts for 5% of Pernod's annual sales.
