The group, which set up the gin-dedicated division in 2017, confirmed today that James will step across from his current role as global fine wine director at Pernod Ricard Winemakers. Assuming the newly-created position of market activation director based out of London, James will also become a member of the unit's senior management team.

Having started at Pernod's UK business 14 years ago, James shifted into wine in 2012 to the post of international brand development director for premium wine brands in Europe, the Middle East & Africa. He moved to Australia in 2014 with the group to head up Pernod's wine visitor centres in the country as well as in New Zealand.

James will report in to The Gin Hub's MD, Louise Ryan.

Last month, Pernod made two senior appointments at the division, which has recently seen its roster boosted by the addition of Italian gin brand Malfy, which was acquired in April for an undisclosed sum.
