Simon van Moppes, currently Pernod UK's commercial director for spirits, has been appointed global group on-trade director. In his new role, van Moppes will be based in Paris and report to Thibaut De Poutier, the Pernod's VP for commercial development.

Chris Ellis, currently commercial director for the firm's wine brands in the UK, has been appointed the unit's overall commercial director, which will add spirits to his portfolio of responsibilities. He will continue to report to Pernod's UK head, Denis O'Flynn.

Both roles will take effect from 1 January, the Paris-headquartered company said.

In its last set of full-year results, Pernod did not disclose sales figures for the UK, but its sales in Europe overall were down 2%.

Earlier this year, the group announced a global cost-cutting programme, called 'Allegro', aiming to bring in EUR150m (US$198m) of savings over three years.
