PepsiCo is to distribute Norwegian bottled water brand Voss in the US premium restaurant channel.

The deal, with Voss owner Voss Water of Norway, includes fine dining restaurants and luxury lodging, PepsiCo said this week. The company will also distribute the brand in limited retail outlets in the US.

Voss Water of Norway said the deal will allow it to use PepsiCo's powerful distribution network to expand its foodservice footprint.

"This new partnership will enable us to service occasions that will grow Voss consumption frequency," said CEO Jack Belsito.

Voss bottled water is from a spring on the southern tip of Norway and comes in both still and sparkling, including three flavoured sparkling choices. It is available in more than 50 countries.

The brand is majority owned by Reignwood Group, which took a more-than-50% stake in the Norway brand early last year.

Reignwood's Thai founder Chanchai Ruayrungruang claims ownership of the Red Bull licence for China, which had been the subject of dispute. In June, the Financial Times reported that Chanchai is battling with Red Bull owner TC Pharmaceuticals over the energy drink's Chinese rights after a 20-year contract expired last year.
