PepsiCo has lined up the launch of its Tropicana Essentials range in India as the company looks to expand its "nutrition" portfolio in the country.

PepsiCo's Indian unit said yesterday that functional juice Tropicana Essentials would help "address nutrient gaps in the local Indian diet". The first product to launch, in Tamil Nadu state, is no-added sugar Tropicana Essentials Fruit & Veggies.

"We are moving forward with our vision to become the nutrition partners in every consumer's journey towards a healthier lifestyle," said Deepika Warrier, ‎VP, nutrition category – ‎PepsiCo India. "The urban Indian consumer is evolving and so are their daily nutritional needs. At the same time, consumers seek a familiar taste experience."

Tropicana Essentials Fruit & Veggies will roll out across the southern Indian state this month. The product is available in stores and online, priced INR30 (US$0.46) for a 20cl pack and INR75 for 50cl.

A spokesperson for PepsiCo said the firm would also look to roll out the product to the Middle East.

Last year, PepsiCo added a probiotics variant to Tropicana Essentials in the US.
