PepsiCo has confirmed it is closing down production operations at one of its US beverage sites with 30 jobs being lost.

Production at the facility in Roanoke, Virginia, has ceased “immediately”, PepsiCo said in a statement today (24 February). However, the facility will remain open, employing 150 warehousing and sales staff. 

The company said the changes have been made to “improve efficiency, fund future investments and be more competitive”. 

“Associated work will move to other facilities within our system,”  PepsiCo said. A spokesperson confirmed to just-drinks 30 staff had lost their jobs as a result of the closure. 

The statement added: “This difficult decision was made with careful consideration and we’re committed to providing support to affected employees by offering outplacement services.” 

Earlier this month, PepsiCo reported a 9.1% lift in full-year net profits, as sales edged up
