Heineken has confirmed the appointment of a new group HR director.

Michael O'Hare, who will join the brewer from PepsiCo International, is set to assume the position on 4 May, Heineken said today (16 February).

O'Hare, who is currently chief personnel officer for Asia Pacific at PepsiCo's international division, will leave the soft drinks company after 13 years.

At Heineken, he succeeds Frans van der Minne, who will move to a newly-created position focused on "further developing the company's strategic customer relationships around the world", the company said.

O'Hare will report to Heineken's CEO, Jean-François van Boxmeer, and will become a member of the company's executive committee. Van der Minne's new position, meanwhile, will see him lose his seat on the executive committee.

"Michael is an outstanding HR professional with a proven track record in harnessing the potential of employees in order to deliver high performance," said van Boxmeer. "He is the right candidate to lead a new HR agenda and build on the considerable achievements of Frans and his team."
