PepsiCo's 2019 global Gatorade campaign will include Leo Messi, kicking of with an ad that pairs the football star with Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus.

The "Make Them Sweat" international push will include the new ad as well as hand-drawn illustrations to appear across digital channels. PepsiCo has also launched a series of social stickers.

"This campaign brings a light-hearted tone to a common motivator of the world's best athletes: make your opponents sweat," said Emiliano Di Vincenzo, GM for Gatorade International.

Messi, who plays for leading club side Barcelona, first teamed up with Gatorade ahead of last year's World Cup. Jesus and Luis Suárez also fronted the campaign for Gatorade for the tournament in Russia.

PepsiCo is launching sponsorship partenrships with its other soft drinks brands. Last month it announced an official partnership in the US between its Mtn Dew brand and HBO series Game of Thrones.
