PepsiCo Beverages Canada has introduced the group's 100% recycled PET plastic bottle to the Canadian market for the 7UP brand.

In March, PepsiCo laid claim to having developed the first PET plastic bottle made from plant-based, fully renewable resources. From today (13 July), Canada will join North America in being the only markets in which selected PepsiCo drinks brands will be available in the EcoGreen bottle.

The bottle is recyclable and made from bio-based raw materials, including switch grass, pine bark and corn husks. The company said it hopes to broaden the renewable sources used to create the bottle to include orange peels, potato peels, oat hulls and other agricultural by-products from its foods business.

The 7UP EcoGreen bottle will be produced in a number of PepsiCo manufacturing facilities across Canada, the company said.
