PepsiCo bottler PepsiAmericas has invested US$150m in Romania to build what it claims is the largest bottling plant in Europe.

The factory, to be officially opened on 1 September, is located on the outskirts of Bucharest in Dragomiresti, PepsiAmericas confirmed to just-drinks yesterday (25 August).

Earlier this month, PepsiCo reached a deal to buy out its major bottlers, PepsiAmericas and Pepsi Bottling Group, after raising its offer to $7.8bn.

The three signed a deal after PepsiCo raised its offer to $36.5 and $28.5 per share for Pepsi Bottling Group (PBG) and PepsiAmericas respectively.
