The soft drinks producer, Pepsi Bottling Group (PBG), has named its current chief executive, John T. Cahill, as chairman-elect. Cahill will succeed Craig E. Weatherup, who will be retiring early next year. Cahill will also retain his position as chief executive.

Weatherup, who has been chairman of PBG since it separated from PepsiCo in 1998, will remain at the company as a director.
