The Pepsi Bottling Group has appointed John L. Berisford senior vice president of human resources. Kathleen M. Dwyer has been named vice president of strategy for the company. Reporting directly to the chairman, both appointments are effective immediately.

Berisford, 41, will lead PBG's global human resources department, which includes staffing, diversity, labour relations, employee benefits and organisational capability. This position was held most recently by L. Kevin Cox, who is leaving the company.

In a newly created role, Dwyer, 45, will be responsible for the development of PBG's strategic plan. She will work closely with the company's three operating presidents on multi-year plans that focus on driving growth in existing businesses and recommending new business opportunities.

PBG chairman and CEO John T. Cahill said: "I am very pleased to welcome these two seasoned executives to my senior leadership team. Both John and Kathy possess tremendous expertise in their respective fields and bring a thorough knowledge of the bottling business to their new roles.

"John has played pivotal roles in every human resources function at PBG and forged solid partnerships with our business leaders. Having served as a finance executive both in our field and headquarters operations, Kathy's business acumen and global perspective make her ideally suited to take on this new challenge. I look forward to their ongoing contributions."
