Craig D. Jung has been named as the new chief executive of Panamerican Beverages (Panamco) after William G. Cooling stepped down, yesterday, after almost two years at the helm of Latin America's biggest soft-drink bottler.

Jung was formerly Panamco's president and chief operating officer, and has also served as the chief operating officer at Pepsi Bottling Group.

Woods W. Staton, a director, was named chairman of the board.

Analysts said that Jung's strengths as an operations expert were key to the company's strategy.
