Constellation is giving its luxury wines portfolio a boost in the US

Constellation Brands has created the position of vice president of luxury wines at its US wine unit.

Constellation Wines US said today (4 August) that Pierre Noique will be the first incumbent to the role, having spent the last 15 years in wine sales and brand-building. Noique will work out of the division's San Francisco office and will report into Marty Birkel, president of sales at Constellation Wines US.

He joins Constellation from Niebaum Coppola/Rubicon Estate in Rutherford where he last served as vice president of national sales & marketing. He has also held the positions of director of sales in the western division and mid-west regional manager.

The appointment coincides with the creation of a dedicated luxury wine sales team “to focus on further strengthening Constellation’s role in the luxury wine community”, the company said.

“The luxury wine category is one of the most important parts of our business,” said Jay Wright, president of Constellation Wines North America. “We are well poised to focus on the ... luxury brands within our portfolio and the best way to bring them to market while responding to consumers needs.”

Constellation’s portfolio includes Robert Mondavi Winery and Kim Crawford.
