Nichols will target UK mums with its Panda push this summer

Nichols has lined up a marketing push for its Panda soft drink brand in the UK that will coincide with the 'back to school' season this summer.

The company, which also owns the Vimto and Sunkist brands, said earlier this week that Panda will be the subject of a nation-wide consumer advertising and PR campaign in August and September. A spate of press advertising in women's lifestyle publications will be backed by a “targeted consumer PR campaign” that will include a “blogger outreach programme” that will push Panda's “healthier proposition” for children.

Financial details behind the activity were not disclosed.

“The Panda brand recently re-launched with a fresh new look following extensive research among UK mums,” said Panda brand manager Nina Uttley. “The targeted Back to School campaign will really help enhance sales across the portfolio.”

The Panda portfolio includes still juice, squash and flavoured water offerings.

Earlier this year, Nichols posted a fall in group profits for its latest fiscal year, despite a slight rise in sales for the period.
